WATCH: Bangladesh spark controversy after non striker takes help from dressing room before DRS call

New Delhi: Bangladesh defeated Nepal by 21 runs at Arnos Vale Ground, Kingstown, St Vincent on June 17, Tuesday to qualify for the Super Eight stage. Bangla Tigers have recorded three victories for the first time in a T20 World Cup campaign. Apart from the win a massive moment in the match caused a huge controversy.

The incident happened in the 14th over of the Bangladesh innings when Sandeep Lamichhane was bowling. The leg-spinner struck Bangladesh batter Tanzim Hasan Sakib on the pads as the on-field umpire raised the finger.

The Bangladeshi batsman nodded his head and was unsure whether to take DRS or not, his partner Jaker Ali was at the non-striker end was seen taking help from the Bangladesh dressing room whether to take DRS or not. Jaker advised Tanzim to take the review and DRS showed the ball was missing the stumps.

Tanzim survived as the on-field umpire had to reverse his decision. but fans slammed the Bangladesh players for taking the help from outside.

As per ICC rules, the umpire can turn down the request of DRS if he is found seeking assistance from the dressing room.

The video has gone viral on social media and cricket fans raised the issue over this cheat idea of Bangladesh in an important match.

Bangladesh qualify Super Eight

In a low-scoring thriller, Nepal invited Bangladesh to bat first, Bangladesh suffered a top-order collapse in the powerplay, losing four wickets for just 31 runs.

Lamichhane made his return to the team and bowled a great spell by taking two wickets in his four-over spell and helped the minnows bowl Bangladesh out for 106 runs in 19.3 overs. In reply, Nepal lost half their side under 26 runs and eventually fell 21 runs short of the target. Bangladesh joined Group 1 in the Super Eight alongside India, Australia, and Afghanistan.
