New Delhi: Bradley Barcola scored the fastest UEFA Nations League goal against Italy in Parc de Paris, as well as the fastest goal for France. It was also the fastest goal conceded by Italy after it smashed the previous record made by Albania when Nedim Bajrami scored in just 23 seconds in the Euro 2024.

The goal was a result of Giovanni Di Lorenzo’s error during possession, as Barcola was able to sprint towards the goalpost, allowing him to score the fastest goal for France.

In the first half, France produced seven shots as they kept looking for their second goal. However, Gianluigi Donnarumma managed to save attempts from French captain Kylian Mbappe and debutant Michael Olise. Italy remained unfazed by the early goal and equalised in the 30th minute with Federico Dimarco’s goal from Sandro Tonali’s assist.
From here, Italy snatched France’s momentum. After the break, Italy doubled their score in just 20 more minutes through Davide Frattesi and scored the third goal in the 74th minute to end their game 3-1. This gives Italy their first win in Paris in almost 70 years.
While Azzuri are leaving with all three points, for Les Bleus, it is a tough situation as they host Belgium next in Groupama Stadium. Belgium will come into the competition with France, having beaten Israel 3-1. France have won the competition in 2021, and have a great squad that can ensure a second Nations League trophy.
They cannot afford a loss, which would mean it will be challenging for them to advance past the group stage. Italy will face Israel next in the Bozsik Arena in Hungary. A win would give them a good chance at advancing to the knockout stage.
