WATCH: Kuldeep Yadav visits Bageshwar Dham on Guru Purnima, seeks blessings ahead of Sri Lanka series

New Delhi: Team India spinner Kuldeep Yadav paid a visit to the Bageshwar Dham temple in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh ahead of the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Kuldeep was part of the Indian team that won the T20 World Cup 2024 title last month after beating South Africa in the final in Barbados. Kuldeep played a key role in India’s triumph.

The official social media handle of Bageshwar Dham Sarkar released a video of Kuldeep paying a visit to the temple and taking the blessings of religious leader Dhirendra Kumar Shastri on the occasion of Guru Purnima. Kuldeep often pays a visit to Bageshwar Dham and is a follower of Shastri.

Kuldeep was India’s frontline spinner in the T20 World Cup 2024 and played an instrumental role in helping India dominate throughout the tournament. Kuldeep didn’t get many chances in the US leg of the tournament but returned among the wickets in the Caribbean leg. The left-arm spinner picked up 10 wickets in six matches in the competition.

Kuldeep rested from T20I series against Sri Lanka

Kuldeep has been rested from T20Is but will feature in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He will be leading India’s spin attack in the ODIs which also consists of Axar Patel and Washington Sundar. The three-match T20I series between India and Sri Lanka will get underway from July 27 followed by the three-match ODI series.

Suryakumar Yadav will be leading in the T20Is after pipping Hardik Pandya in the race for captaincy while Rohit Sharma will continue leading the Men in Blue in ODIs. Shubman Gill has been appointed as the vice-captain of both the ODI and T20I teams and will be groomed under Rohit and Suryakumar for a future captaincy role.
