New Delhi: As all the Indian athletes who partook in the Paris Olympics 2024 have returned back home after the event’s conclusion, a video of Manu Bhaker’s mother, Sumedha Bhaker, meeting Neeraj Chopra has gone viral. The video is from their meeting in Paris and is amusing the social media for some special reason. The netizens are sharing and commenting views on the footage.

Ace shooter Manu Bhaker made history in Paris as she became the first Indian to win two medals in a single edition of the Olympic Games. She won two bronze medals – in women’s 10m air pistol and mixed team women’s 10m air pistol each. Meanwhile, Neeraj Chopra clinched a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw event at the Paris Olympics. He tried defending the gold that he had bagged at the Tokyo Games but ultimately settled for a silver.

The two were among the six medal winners of India and were to represent India at the closing ceremony but Chopra was later replaced by PR Sreejesh after a request from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). Nonetheless, the recent video of Neeraj in conversation with Manu Bhaker and another clip of him conversing with her mother has taken the internet by storm, where the fans gossiped about the two in the comments.

Internet asks about ‘rishta’

As soon as the clip went viral, the netizens flooded the comments with wild guesses after seeing Manu Bhaker’s mother, Sumedha Bhaker in an animated chat with Neeraj. The comments were quite exaggerated, the reason being Mrs. Bhaker holding Chopra’s hand and keeping it on her head as Neeraj stood quiet and shy. The video has gained views in millions on the social media platform “X” (formerly Twitter).

Many people joked about Mrs. Bhaker finalising Neeraj as a suitable match for her daughter. “Shaadi ke rishte ki baat chal rahi hai,” a user wrote while another one quipped “Indian mom talking to successful boy about her daughter’s marriage.” A third user joked, “Rishta Pakka Hua,” with another saying, “Mummy ji on mission for damadji (Mother on a mission to find a son-in-law). A user even made a wish, “Aunty ji, make it happen.”

Neeraj and Manu belong to the Indian state of Haryana. While Neeraj hails from the Panipat district, Manu comes from Jhajjar.
