New Delhi: Defending champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), are all set to take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of the 18th edition of the cash-rich league. The clash will be played at the home ground of KKR, i.e., the Eden Gardens, in front of a packed house. KKR’s co-owner Shah Rukh Khan looked to have reached Kolkata a night before the game to support his team on March 22, Saturday.

Widely known as the “King Khan” and “Baadshah of Bollywood”, SRK loves cricket by heart and has owned KKR since the inception of IPL in 2008. He has enjoyed his time with the team that won their maiden IPL title in 2012 followed by a second title in 2014. He is a regular visitor to KKR matches, not missing any opportunity to lend support to his side and boost the morale of his players.

A similar incident happened recently when SRK convened with his boys ahead of their opening match of the season against RCB. In a video posted by the team on their social media handles, SRK was seen making an entry into the hotel in Kolkata, where all of his players are residing. He hugged and greeted them and wished them luck for their first encounter on Saturday.

In the video, he was seen wishing good health upon everyone and specially thanked “Chandu sir” (Chandrakant Pandit – coach) for taking “good care of his boys”. He welcomes the new members of his team, including Ajinkya Rahane, who will be captaining the team in the 2025 season. “Thank you Ajinkya for joining us and being our captain, and I hope you find a good home here. Play well with us,” the Bollywood actor said.

Rinku to bowl?

In another video that was posted by KKR on Saturday, their explosive middle-order batter Rinku Singh was seen rolling his arm over in the nets. He was bowling beside English spinner Moeen Ali. When asked about what he was about to bowl, he said off-spin and that he is learning from Moeen. This left the fans in the comment section wondering whether KKR is planning to use Rinku as an all-rounder in the RCB game.
