New Delhi: India arrived in St. Lucia ahead of their high-stake game against Australia at Daren Sammy National Cricket Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia in the T20 World Cup 2024 on June 24, Monday. Despite not having got a single opportunity in the tournament so far, spinner Yuzvendra Chahal continued to entertain his teammates and fans.

As Team India’s bus arrived at St. Lucia in the morning, Chahal took the bus conductor’s seat and joyfully acted as a typical bus conductor announcing “ground, ground, ground” while tapping on the bus with his left hand. The hilarious video went viral on social media.

Chahal couldn’t make it into the playing XI of the Indian team in their first two matches in the Super 8. He is now the only spinner in the Indian squad who is yet to get the opportunity to showcase his talent in the ongoing T20 World Cup. Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja, and Axar Patel – all three spinners have produced some match-winning performances in the tournament so far.

Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey recently spoke about the possibility of Chahal getting an opportunity to play in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024.

“It all depends on the surface- I hope the surface won’t be that spinner friendly I think going in yes three spinners, I think just add the balance but I’m not very sure all the other venues- case, I’m saying I don’t like the surface is going to be that dry and going to turn so much but yeah surface is like that, there’s a lot of wear and tear in the wicket yeah for a spinner if you think that’s the best option you want to go and enter the game, you might as well go with it,” Mhambrey told the press.

Rain threat in St. Lucia

India will take on Australia in the last Super Eight game and will be eyeing their qualification for the semi-final. Thunderstorms are expected in the match time hours and there is a 40% rainfall chance during the day. If the match gets washed out India will directly qualify for the semifinal and will play against England in the semis at Providence Stadium, Guyana on June 27, Thursday.
