New Delhi: Pakistan were given a dose of their medicine as West Indies trapped them in a spin web to win the second and final Test by 120 runs inside three days in Multan to level the series 1-1.

Pakistan needed 178 runs more to win but were shot out for 133 as left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican inspired West Indies to their first Test win in over 34 years in the Asian country.

Warrican’s 5-27 in the second innings enabled him to finish the series as the leading wicket taker with 19 dismissals that pushed Pakistan to the foot of the World Test Championship standings after end of a two-year cycle.

West Indies finished eighth, just a spot above Pakistan with Australia and South Africa already advancing to the final in June at Lord’s cricket ground.

The hosts resumed their chase at 76-4 and quickly lost both their overnight batters as Kevin Sinclair (3/61) induced an edge off Saud Shakeel to the slips on the third ball of the day and Warrican castled nightwatchman Kashif Ali in the next over.

Warrican then removed both Mohammad Rizwan (25) and Salman Ali Agha (15) just when they looking comfortable after adding 39 runs. Salman was deceived by an inviting delivery to be trapped in front of the stumps while Rizwan was beaten by the extra spin to be bowled.

Sajid Khan was also clean bolwed as Warrican guided West Indies to a famous win, first since 1990 to script an amazing turnaround for the Caribbeans after they went own in the opening Test by 127 runs at the same venue, having slumped to 7/38 on the first day of the second game.

Their tailenders lifted them to 163 all out after which West Indies bowlers ensured a nine runs lead. Skipper Kraigg Brathwaite’s fifty in the second innings gave the Windies an overall lead of 253 runs before Pakistan fumbled on a turning track.

West Indies won the second Test by 120 runs in Multan, their first win in Pakistan in 34 years, to level the series 1-1.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
