The development of the apps by Western Railway

Western Railway has developed the two applications to detect fake tickets for passengers. It has been done for ticket-checking employees to address the problem of fraudulent ticket holders. As per reports, the first app, which is now in beta testing phase, has been designed to help ticket-checking staff in verifying the tickets. The app will be able to scan a ticket’s UTS number, mobile number and other details and compare them with the information available in the railway system. This is being due to multiple instances of passengers using fake QR codes to generate fraudulent tickets. The ticket-checking staff have to download the app on their mobile phones and it will help them to identify passengers traveling with fake mobile tickets.

As per reports, the second app will resolve the complaints of passengers who at present have to report complaints via the Rail Madad app or the 139 helpline. Thanks to the new app, each long-distance train’s ticket supervisor will be able to directly contact staff responsible for handling specific complaints. All complaints like AC, unclean toilets, food, water leakage, and other issues in the train, will be solved in one click now. Apart from streamlining passenger complaints, the app will allow both the rail control room and the train captain to have access to on-board staff’s details, enabling TTEs boarding at later stations to access this information. The performance of contractual staff on train can be also be monitored with the app and these will enhance the travel experience of passengers.
