When a steadfast Nitish Kumar Reddy declined gigantic IPL offers to stay with SRH

New Delhi: Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has walloped into the spotlight of phenomenon. Thanks to his sheer grit and determination to fight back against all the odds, and play for his team by making difference with the impactful performances.

The ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy has revealed the talent of Nitish Kumar Reddy, not the all-rounder, but one who has a strong temperament and has the solid batting technique which grinds the Australian bowlers for his crucial scalp. He scored a century (105*) in the current fourth Test to keep India’s chances open for a potential comeback.

This comes just eight months after Nitish announced himself in the T20 circuit with the power-fire blazed by him in the IPL 2024 when he donned the shirt of Sunrisers Hyderabad in what was the debut season. He scored 303 runs in 11 innings at a strike rate of 142.92 with a couple of half-centuries being scored under his belt while returning with three wickets at an economy of 11.39.

Why Nitish opted to stick with SRH for IPL 2025?

Nitish was retained by the Hyderabad outfit for a sum of INR 6 crore ahead of the IPL 2025 auction. His father Mutyala Reddy, who played a key role in making Nitish a professional cricketer, has revealed that his son declined lucrative deals from other IPL teams during the retention process to showcase his loyalty with the Orange Army.

“A few franchises wanted Nitish to get out of SRH and offered money over 15 crores. When I told him about the offers Nitish in return questioned me ‘Who gave us life, where did I get my name from?’ I replied SRH. Then he said ‘Why should I leave them?” Mutyala was quoted as saying by The Indian Express.

“If I do leave for the franchise which is giving me more money I have to prove myself again, even if I fail once I will be benched. But with SRH even if I have a couple of poor scores they will back me.’ I encouraged him to keep going ahead with this thought process,” he added.

Nitish Kumar Reddy’s impressive IPL 2024 debut with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was followed by a century in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, showcasing his exceptional talent and unwavering loyalty. Despite lucrative offers from other franchises, Reddy chose to remain with SRH, highlighting his commitment and dedication to the team.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
