New Delhi: The two-week thrilling and riveting action of the Paris Olympics 2024 came to a conclusion on Sunday with the closing ceremony culminated the 33rd edition of the Summer Games. United States topped the medal tally charts with 40 gold, 42 silver, and 42 bronze medals to accumulate 126 medals. The gold medal helped US level with China on the table with 40 gold medals each, leading the count to be decided by more silver medals eventually (US 42 silver > China 27 silver).
According to news agency AFP, a star-studded closing ceremony folded up in front of around 71,500 spectators at the Stade de France stadium. French swimmer Leon Marchand carried the Olympic flame and subsequently extinguished the cauldron with the flame to start the proceedings of the closing ceremony.
