New Delhi: The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday cleared a sum of Rs 6,456 crore for 3 railway projects, namely, two new railway lines and one multi-tracking project.

As part of the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan for multi-modal connectivity the 3 projects are envisaged to connect 7 districts and 4 states, namely, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Chhattisgarh. The projects are expected to enhance the existing railway network by 300 km, according to an official statement.

Under the new projects, 14 new stations will come up connecting 2 aspirational districts, namely, Nuapada and East Singbhum. Nearly 11 lakh people from 1,300 villages will benefit from the new line projects. Another 1300 villages and 19 lakh people will benefit from multi-tracking projects.
