New Delhi: The new member in the 6 sixes elite list Priyansh Arya, who has been in sensational form in the ongoing Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024. Arya is currently the Orange cap holder in the DPL, with 602 runs in just nine innings with two centuries. He has a humongous average of 75.25 and a dashing strike rate of 198. Arya also mentioned his favourite cricketer, which is Virat Kohli, and showed his desire to play alongside him in the Royal Challenger Bengaluru (RCB).
Arya also stated that he admired Kohli’s aggression very much and also likes to play aggressive cricket. Arya’s record-breaking 6-sixes, he said, “I had this thing in mind that if a left-arm spinner comes on to bowl, I will attack him. After the fourth six, I started to believe that I could hit six sixes and will go for that. Ayush backed me and told me to go for the kill,” he reflected on his game.
Arya also can become the highest run-getter in one single edition of any national T20 league, His focus is now on winning the inaugural DPL trophy and also praised his skipper Ayush Badoni who also broke many records with his 165-run innings against North Delhi Strikers. Arya is a fan of Badoni’s leadership skills as Badoni is always open to back anyone and anyone can express their ideas in the match and he always backed players in the field.
“Badoni’s quite relaxed and doesn’t talk much, just tells us to express ourselves. The team’s environment is calm, coaches talk about the positives rather than the negatives. The mindset is to win the trophy”. Arya added.
South Delhi Superstarz is in second position in the DPL 2024 points table and qualifies already for the semi-finals. Badoni and co. have their eyes on winning two major matches to lift the DPL trophy.
Arya got the opportunity to lead his side in the last match but his team lost the match by 61 runs. Badoni took a rest in the last game to check his bench strength. Now with only one match remaining before the knockout games, Badoni will be back in the side and could rectify the things in which his side is lacking and could perform better in the knock-outs.
