New Delhi: Jannik Sinner claimed the second Grand Slam of his career, winning the US Open title for the first time. He defeated USA’s Taylor Fritz in straight sets 6-3, 6-4, 7-5 and with the win became the first Italian man to have lifted the title at the Flushing Meadows. It was also a second major of the year for him as he earlier won the Australian Open 2024.
His joy knew no bounds after the win as he celebrated with his team and also went on to share a beautiful moment with Anna Kalinskaya, a Russian tennis player, who was in the stands of the Arthur Ashe Stadium cheering for Sinner. Who is Anna Kalinskaya?
Anna Kalinskaya is a Russian tennis player who is currently dating 23-year-old Sinner. Both have been in a relationship since the French Open earlier this year where Sinner crashed out against Carlos Alcaraz in the semi-final. Before Sinner, Kalinskaya was in a brief relationship with Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios.
Born in 1998, Kalinskaya is three years older than Sinner. The Moscow girl also partook in the US Open 2024 but did not have the best of times. She lost to Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia in straight sets 6-3, 6-1 in the third round of women’s singles. She partnered with Katie Boulter in women’s doubles but crashed out in the second round.
She is yet to win a Grand Slam in her ongoing career. She participated in all four majors this year and could get as close to the quarterfinal in the Australian Open. She was out of the French Open in the second round and the Wimbledon in the fourth round. She is currently ranked 15th which is also her career best ranking so far.
