New Delhi: Vasundhara Oswal is the daughter of Indian-origin billionaire Pankaj Oswal who was illegally detained in Uganda by some local armed officers on October 1. She is 26 years old. Vasundhara is facing charges of kidnapping and murdering Mukesh Menaria, a former employee who worked on the Oswal family’s private jet and also served as domestic help in their various residences around the world. However, the Oswal family has claimed that Mukesh Menaria is alive and living in Tanzania.
Why was Vasundhara Oswal detained?
According to reports, Vasundhara Oswal was detained by a group of armed officials mistakenly in a investigation case related to a missing person. However, her family alleged that her arrest was illegal based on ‘corporate and political manipulation’.

Speaking on her daughter’s arrest case, Pankaj Oswal mentioned about the involvement of his former employee who levelled false charges against her.
Pankaj Oswal said that the former employee was allegedly involved in a theft after he stole valuables from his family and took loan of around USD 200,000. He also named Oswals as guarantors.
However, when the Oswal family refused to repay the loan, they were accused of false financial charges.
What happened with Vasundhara Oswal?
Vasundhara Oswal’s family said that she was illegally detained in Uganda on October 1. They alleged that she was not allowed to bathe or change clothes during the time she remained detained in Uganda.
Vasundhara suffered an anxiety attack due to pathetic conditions as the circumstances were not acknowledged by the officials.
Vasundhara’s family had also released the audio recordings of her last phone call in which she was crying and saying, “they are taking my phone”.
Her family has also alleged that ever since she has been detained, Vasundhara has been denied basic rights and was living in subhuman conditions.
So far, it has been three weeks that she has been detained.
What Vasundhara Oswal was doing in Uganda?
Vasundhara Oswal was in Uganda as she was working to develop a factory in the country. She had been residing in the East African country for the past 3 years.
More than two dozen officials had detained her on October 1 from the premises of an alcohol neutral plant belonging to the Oswal family in Uganda.
According to reports, Vasundhara was working on Oswal’s family $100 million investment in the country to establish Extra-Neutral Alcohol (ENA) production facility, a first in the county.
