New Delhi: Bangladesh cricket team embarks on a two-match Test series to Pakistan from August 21. This series against Asian team comes ahead of the tour of Bangladesh to India, which is scheduled to take place in the month of September. While the first Test match between Pakistan and Bangladesh takes place in Rawalpindi, the second is scheduled to take place in Karachi from August 30.
According to a report published in ESPNcricinfo, the second Test between Pakistan and Bangladesh in Karachi from August 30 to September 3 will be played without the presence of spectators. But why is that there will be no spectators in the game.
Here’s the reason
The reason why the five-day match will be without spectators is because of the ongoing construction work underway at the National Stadium. The development is a part of an upgrade as the Pakistan Cricket Board renovates its venue ahead of the 2025 Champions Trophy in February-March. Apart from the Karachi stadium, the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is undergoing a similar upgrade ahead of Pakistan’s first ICC tournament since 1996, when they co-hosted the 1996 World Cup with India and Sri Lanka.
According to report, this decision was taken to keep the Test in Karachi because the Pakistan Cricket Board was keen on spreading their seven home Tests, ODIs and domestic cricket across three venues in Karachi, Multan and Rawalpindi. Meanwhile, there is no change in plans for the England Test scheduled in Karachi from October 15, with spectators expected to be in the stands for the game.
Keeping the current scenario in view, the PCB has suspended the ticket sales for the second Test match in Karachi and has advertised for the sale of tickers to the Test as two days ago.
