New Delhi: The highly anticipated lightweight bout was all set for the first UFC event of 2025 at the Intuit Dome arena on Sunday, January 19. All things were set. The press conference for the event was done early on, but before 24 hours of the fight, the bout was scrapped.
It all happened due to Arman’s back injury as he couldn’t make the weigh-ins and pulled out from the fight. It was the last-second loss for the UFC 311 pay-per-view. The ceremonial weigh-in show was set but just hours before Arman stated his injury to UFC management and they prohibited him from taking part in the fight.
All the hype and excitement among fans were turned down after the exit of Tsarukyan from the fight. The Armenian fighter will now recover from his injury and has to wait for another title shot.
Islam will be fighting in the main event of UFC 311 as he made weighs before the show. The Lightweight champion told UFC he will fight anybody with only one day’s notice which makes him the number 1 pound-for-pound fighter.
After pulling out from the fight, Arman apologize on his social media and stated that he will be making a strong comeback after healing from his injury.
Fan favorite replaces Arman Tsarukyan to face Islam Makhachev
Fan favorite Renato Moicano will replace injured Tsarukyan at UFC 311 and will get the lightweight title shot on one day’s notice. Dana White had two options to choose from after the departure of Arman. The two options were Moicano and Beneil Dariush as both made weigh-ins and White picked Moicano, who is on a four-fight win streak.
Moicano and Dariush were set to face each other in the prelims of UFC 311 but now Moicano will be facing Islam for the lightweight championship. Dariush is now without a fight and UFC has to figure it out for him in the event.
