New Delhi: Team India is all set to face South Africa in the first T20I of the four-match series that kicks off on November 8 in Durban. The famous Kingsmead stadium will play host to the opening clash of the series, and both teams will look forward to starting the series on a winning note. But there’s a serious rain threat in the South African city, which might hamper the match proceedings and even lead to it being abandoned.
The Indian team flew to the Rainbow Nation a week before and is preparing at full tilt for the four-match affair. In the tune-up to the game, intermittent showers on the ground didn’t interrupt the teams’ practice sessions. Nonetheless, the series promises to be an exciting affair between the two teams that met in the final of the T20 World Cup this year in June.
India were crowned as the champions while it was another heartbreak for the Proteas in an ICC event. A wounded South African team are hoping to turn the tables against the visitors and clinch the series in order to heal themselves. South Africa will be led by the same skipper Aiden Markram who took them too close to the T20 WC title a few months back. Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav will be leading the Indian team which is full of youngsters.
South Africa will also have the services of power hitters Heinrich Klaasen and David Miller, who almost took them over the line in the titular clash. They are expected to go all guns blazing at their home soil… if the rain gods permit it for the first T20I in Durban. The weather isn’t promising and the clash could reach an unpleasant end.
