New Delhi: Defending champion Australia will face Asian champions Sri Lanka in the match No.5 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday, October 5.
The Australian women’s cricket team will aim for their seventh T20 World Cup trophy under the leadership of Alyssa Healy. The Aussies are in good form and recently whitewashed New Zealand in the three-match T20I series.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka has already started their campaign and faced a defeat 31-run defeat from Pakistan. Batting first, Fatima Sana and Co. scored 116 runs in the 20 overs. Captain Sana and Nida Dar made crucial contributions with the bat. Prabodhani, Sugandika and Athapaththu took three wickets each.
Chasing a 117-run target, Sri Lanka only managed to score 85 runs in the 20 overs and lost the match. Sadia Iqbal took three wickets while Fatima Sana, Omaima Sohail and Nashara Sandhu also picked up two wickets each.
