New Delhi: WWE organised their first-ever WWE Saturday Night main event pay-per-view at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio, Texas on January 26, Sunday. The first WWE premium pay-per-view of 2025 was full of action as WWE legendary fighter Shawn Michal made his return to the ring.
There were three title matches in the show where Intercontinental champion Bron Breakker was defending his title against Sheamus, WWE women’s champion Rhea Ripley was battling against Nia Jax, and in the main event of the night WWE Heavyweight champion Gunther defended his title against Jey Uso.
Between these three title matches, every fan was seeking the contract signing segment between Rhodes and Owens. Both fighters made their entrance before the main event and Michaels was a special guest for the contract signing segment.
After signing the contract, Hall of Famer Michaels announced the match at Royal Rumble was officially confirmed. But after that, Owens attacked Rhodes from behind which Michaels didn’t like at all, and hit his iconic super kick to Owens and got the loud applause from the crowd.
In the main event of the show, Gunther dominantly retained his title against Jey. The champion started the match with some nasty shots on Jey and slamming him across the ring. Gunther hit a running hip attack but Jey climbed to the top rope but Gunther caught him with a chop.
Jey attacked the champion with two back-to-back spears but Gunther kicked out the pinfall and hit two consecutive powerbombs to pick up the victory against Jey. Gunther will likely defend his title at the grandest stage of WrestleMania 41 as there is no one right now to challenge him and every fighter is generally focusing on Royal Rumble 2025 match.
