New Delhi: Yashasvi Jaiswal is set to join Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad ahead of their crucial semifinal match against Vidarbha at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. He recently featured in India’s ODI squad against England and has been added to the Mumbai team after their dominating 152-run victory against Haryana in the quarterfinal in Kolkata.

Jaiswal is among India’s non-travelling substitutes for the upcoming Champions Trophy along with all-rounder Shivam Dube and will join the Mumbai squad on Friday, February 14. Jaiswal and Dube will only be required to fly to Dubai if necessary.

Initially, he was part of India’s 15-member squad for the eight-team tournament but was replaced by Varun Chakaravarthy as the Men in Blue opted to add a fifth spinner to their squad. He also made his ODI debut in the first match of the series against England and scored 15 runs off 22 balls.

Jaiswal has only played just one game for his domestic side and managed to score 4 and 26 in Mumbai’s unexpected defeat against Jammu & Kashmir. He scored 391 runs at an average of 43.33 in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, including a hundred and two half-centuries.

The upcoming semifinal against Vidarbha in Nagpur will be a repeat of last season’s final, where Mumbai emerged victorious to clinch the Ranji Trophy title for record-breaking 42nd time. Vidarbha will be eager to turn the tables this time against the defending champions. Mumbai’s senior selection committee, including chairman Sanjay Patil, Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackeray, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligeti, made the call to add Jaiswal to the squad.

Mumbai squad: Ajinkya Rahane (Captain), Ayush Mhatre, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Amogh Bhatkal, Suryakumar Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Siddhesh Lad, Shivam Dube, Akash Anand (WK), Hardik Tamore (WK), Suryansh Shedge, Shardul Thakur, Shams Mulani, Tanush Kotian, Mohit Avasthi, Sylvester Dsouza, Royston Dias, Atharva Ankolekar, Harsh Tanna.

After missing out on a place in India’s 15-member squad for the Champions Trophy, Yashasvi Jaiswal is added to Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy squad for their semi-final against Vidarbha in Nagpur.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
