New Delhi: Ellyse Perry’s stunning knock of 81 off 43 balls went in vain as Mumbai Indians defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by 4 wickets to secure a thrilling victory at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday, February 21. Chasing the target of 168 runs, MI got off to a poor start as Kim Garth dismissed Yastika Bhatia on 8 runs. Nat Sciver-Brunt played a counterattacking knock and forged a 57-run partnership for the second wicket with Hayley Mathews. She scored 42 runs off 21 balls and hit 9 boundaries in her cameo.
Ekta Bisht removed Hayley Mathews in the 7th over and got RCB back into the match. Wareham and Garth removed Sciver-Brunt and Amelia Kerr in quick succession to leave MI reeling at 82 for 4 in 9.1 overs. Harmanpreet and Amanjot Kaur stitched a 62-run partnership for the fifth wicket. The MI skipper smashed 50 runs off 38 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and one maximum.
Georgia Wareham removed Harmanpreet and on the very next delivery, she dismissed Sajana as RCB got back in the contest. MI needed 22 runs off 12 balls and Amanjot put pressure on the bowler with a fine six down the ground on the first ball.
