New Delhi: WWE star Rhea Ripley is undoubtedly the most powerful and dominant women wrestlers on the WWE roster currently. She recently reacted to some of the most viral moments of her career so far. Ripley, a former Women’s World Champion who will turn 28 next month, has been in the spotlight lately for his notable rivalry against the duo Dominik Mysterio and Liv Morgan. Mysterio was once alongside Ripley but turned his back on her and got with Morgan.
Off the ring, Ripley is known for her happy go lucky attitude and in a recent interview, showcased her trait once again. In an interview on Ring The Belle, Ripley was asked about the viral and years-long WWE move “Stinkface”, which she occasionally performs on her opponents during her matches. But her usage of the move has got her a lot of criticism from the WWE fandom and she wonders why.
Reacting to all the lambasting thrown on her, Ripley said she is criticised for every single thing she does. She went on to point out the fans’ hypocrisy saying that the WWE Universe enjoys the move when Tifanny Stratton and male wrestlers performs it. She said that she gets the criticism because of her widespread popularity.
“Honestly, it’s really funny because I get criticism for every single little thing that I do, but you see the men doing this and you’re like, “Yeah, that looks cool, amazing.” Tiffany Stratton does this the other week and they’re like, “Oh my God, I love you, Tiff! Oh my God, you’re so sexy, please do that to me!’ But when I do it, there’s a problem. Why? You’re just mad that I’m popular, that’s why,” Ripley said as quoted by Sportskeeda Wrestling.
What is a Stinkface?
The “Stinkface” maneuver was made popular by Bloodline legend Rikishi. It sees a wrestler rubbing their buttocks on the opponent’s face who usually lies on the corner of the ring. The idea behing the move is to humiliate the opponent in front of the whole audience. The opponent rarely escapes from the movemaker once it begins. The wrestler may or may not rub their buttocks on the opponent’s face as some have been seen simply resting themselves on the face.
