Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had also interacted with a number of para-athletes from the Indian contingent, including the likes of javelin thrower Sumit Antil, shooter Avani Lekhara and archer Sheetal Devi among others.

India aim to breach 20-medal mark in Paris Paralympics 2024
India recorded their best-ever show at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021, bagging an impressive 19 medals including 5 gold medals. It was the first time India’s medal tally reached double figures at the Paralympics and surpassed their combined tally of medals from all previous editions. India had won only 12 medals in the Paralympics since their debut in the 1968 Games but comfortably went past their overall tally in a single edition in Tokyo.
With an even bigger contingent this time around, India will be hoping to go a notch higher and breach the 20-medal mark. Antil, Avani, Sheetal, Manish Narwal, Krishna Nagar and Mona Agarwal among others are some of India’s biggest medal hopes at the Paralympics 2024.
