Millions of government employees earning their salaries linked to the 7th Pay commission have just received some good news. They will be getting some extra money with their salaries this time that will offer so much relief. After all, most products and services that everyone uses on a daily basis are seeing rising prices and whenever such reliefs are rolled out, they go a long way in helping individuals cope better or perhaps, even boost their lifestyle choices. In an announcement that has brought much joy to Sikkim and West Bengal government employees, a dearness allowance hike has been rolled out for their benefit. 7th pay commission: DA hike in West Bengal
First of all, 7th pay commission based DA hike has been announce by the West Bengal government. This will likely benefit as many as one million, or over, government employees. Notably, the 7th pay commission linked DA hike has been made applicable as of April 1 and not May 1. This indicates that arrears stemming from these months in between too will come to employees’ accounts. The DA hike in West Bengal is by 4% to 42%. This is certainly a great reason for employees to look much more closely at their salary slips this time around. Notably, the same had been announced by the state government well ahead of the elections and it has been implemented now.
7th pay commission: DA hike in Sikkim
The government of Sikkim has also cleared the 7th pay commission DA hike. PTI reported that this too is by 4% applicable to both its employees and pensioners. The implementation will happen retrospectively from July 1, 2023.
The importance of the issue became clear when the decision was cleared by the second Sikkim Krantikari Morcha government in its first cabinet meeting helmed by Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
In Sikkim, this 4% DA hike for government employees and pensioners brings the total up to 46 per cent. The 7th pay commission linked DA outgo from the state exchequer will be Rs 174.6 crore.
