New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) superstar Virat Kohli enjoyed a heartwarming reunion with his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma after scoring a gritty half-century to help his team beat Delhi Capitals (DC) by six wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on Sunday. Kohli played a crucial knock of 51 runs off 47 balls to help his team recover from a poor start and successfully chase down the target of 163 runs.
In the absence of Phil Salt, RCB got off to a poor start in the 163-run chase as they lost opener Jacob Bethell cheaply on 12 before Devdutt Padikkal was removed on a duck. Rajat Patidar was run out on 6, leaving RCB reeling on 26/3 in the 4th over. Kohli then combined with fellow half-centurion Krunal Pandya to bail the team out of trouble.
Kohli and Krunal combined to add a match-winning stand of 119 runs for the fourth wicket to set up a convincing victory for the team. While Kohli scored 51, Krunal slammed an unbeaten 73 off 47 balls to play a starring role in the victory. Tim David produced a brief cameo of 5-ball 19 after Kohli’s dismissal in the 18th over to help RCB wrap up the chase with 9 balls to spare.
Following his side’s victory, Kohli was seen catching up with DC players on the ground. He also met his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma, who was present at the stadium. In a video shared by RCB, Kohli was seen touching his childhood coach’s feet in a heartwarming gesture after the game. Sharma also playfully punched Kohli’s belly to congratulate him for his team’s victory.
