New Delhi: Wedding bells are ringing for India’s double Olympic medallist PV Sindhu, who is set to tie the knot on December 22. The ace Indian shuttler will get married to Hyderabad-based businessman and IT professional Venkata Datta Sai in a destination wedding in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. Sai is an Executive Director at Hyderabad-based IT firm Posidex Technologies.
Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, confirmed that the families of the couple have known each other for years and decided to finalise the wedding a month ago. While the wedding ceremony will take place in Udaipur, a grand reception has been planned in Hyderabad on December 24. The wedding has been planned in a way to allow Sindhu to return to the court in January next year.
One of India’s most successful athletes, Sindhu has achieved numerous accolades for the country at the highest level. She has always garnered headlines for her heroics on the badminton court and little was known about her relationship status before the news of her marriage with Venkata Datta Sai took social media by storm on Monday.

“Single,” Sindhu replied when asked about her relationship status during the podcast.
“Right now, it’s just badminton for me. My ultimate aim is the Olympics. I want to be completing focus on that. After that whatever happens, happens,” Sindhu added.
“Is there any part of you that wants a partner?” Sindhu was asked by hst Ranveer Allahabadia. “I never thought about it as such. ‘Oh, yeah. I need a partner’ like that. It’s destiny, whatever is written,” replied the ace shuttler.
The host then went on to ask Sindhu if she had dated anyone in her life. Sindhu replied with a no and said she has never had a chance to date someone due to her commitment to badminton.
“No, not really,” Sindhu replied. “There is nothing good or bad about it. Life foes on. If it will happen, it will happen,” she added.
Sindhu, who is 29, recently brought an end to her title drought by winning the women’s singles title at the Syed Modi Open 2024 in Lucknow. The two-time Olympic medallist had missed out on a chance to win a medal at the Paris Games but doesn’t plan to retire anytime soon. After winning the women’s singles title at the Syed Modi Open, Sindhu confirmed she would continue playing for at least the next couple of years before drawing curtains on her illustrious career.
