The ace Indian shuttler will get married to Hyderabad-based businessman and IT professional Venkata Datta Sai in a destination wedding in Rajasthan’s Udaipur. Sai is an Executive Director at Hyderabad-based IT firm Posidex Technologies.

Sindhu’s father, PV Ramana, confirmed that the families of the couple have known each other for years and decided to finalise the wedding a month ago. While the wedding ceremony will take place in Udaipur, a grand reception has been planned in Hyderabad on December 24. The wedding has been planned in a way to allow Sindhu to return to the court in January next year.

She has always garnered headlines for her heroics on the badminton court and little was known about her relationship status before the news of her marriage with Venkata Datta Sai took social media by storm on Monday.

The host then went on to ask Sindhu if she had dated anyone in her life. Sindhu replied with a no and said she has never had a chance to date someone due to her commitment to badminton.

“No, not really,” Sindhu replied. “There is nothing good or bad about it. Life foes on. If it will happen, it will happen,” she added.

Sindhu, who is 29, recently brought an end to her title drought by winning the women’s singles title at the Syed Modi Open 2024 in Lucknow.
