New Delhi: Pacer Mitchell Starc sizzled with the ball for Australia on the first day of the second Test match of Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India at the Adelaide Oval on Friday. The lethal Aussie pacer, who claimed three wickets in the series opener at Perth, ran through the Indian batting line up claiming a sensational six-fer to jolt the Indian innings. The Australian pacer’s 6/48 is his career-best figures in Tests as he surpassed his previous best of 6/50 taken against Sri Lanka.
Earlier, Starc took his first five-wicket haul against India in Test matches as he dismissed the biggies like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and Yashasvi Jaiswal back to the pavilion. The Australia fast bowler also took wickets of Ravichandran Ashwin and Harshit Rana to complete his five wickets in the second session of play and then wrapped it up by picking the wicket of Nitish Reddy for 42 to complete a 6-wicket haul as India folded for a first innings score of 180 runs in 44.1 overs.

15th Test fifer for Starc
This was the Australian pacer’s 15th fifer in the Test format and his fourth five-wicket haul in day/night Test matches. He also became the first bowler to claim more than two five-wicket hauls in Tests. The legendary Australia pacer also became the first seamer to take 50 wickets in the Test format at the historic Adelaide Oval.

India’s 180 all out is the lowest first innings score in day-night Tests in Adelaide. The previous lowest at the iconic venue was a score of 202. Meanwhile for India, Reddy was the highest run-scorer while Rahul became the second-best scorer with a 37-run knock. Shubman Gill contributed 31 runs in the innings for India.
