New Delhi: Telugu Titans defeated Gujarat Giants by 36-32 in the first match of the evening on Super Saturday, while in the second match of the evening, Dabang Delhi stunned Haryana Steelers by 44-37 at the Balewadi Sports Complex in Pune on December 14.
Gujarat Giants started the match brilliantly and picked up an early lead but more importantly, accounted for Sehrawat and Malik off the first two plays of the game. The Titans were under pressure a lot of pressure for a while but as soon as their star raiders were back on the mat the Giants conceded the advantage within the first five minutes.
Ashish Narwal put some pressure back on the opponents by leading the charge for Telugu Titans. Gujarat Giants’ defence kept Sehrawat quiet, while Guman and Rakesh scored crucial points. Gujarat Giants inflicted an All Out and picked up a six-point lead just before half-time. Guman scored a two-point raid as the Giants went into the break with a seven-point lead.
They started the second half more strongly, continuing to build on the lead. Neeraj and Manuj in the defence were having a good game for the Giants. Sehrawat scored some points which turned the game for Telugu Titans. They inflicted an All Out as Sehrawat scored a Super 10. Telugu Titans took a five-point lead and then landed a second All Out to win the game.
In the second game of the evening, Dabang Delhi defeated table-toppers Haryana Steelers by 44-37 and moved one step closer to qualifying for the PKL play-offs.
