New Delhi: Reports from multiple sources suggest Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain have verbally agreed on a €70m transfer fee for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. Fabrizio Romano and La Gazzetta dello Sport report that the deal is awaiting final approval from both clubs’ owners before it becomes official. The Georgian winger is said to have already agreed personal terms with PSG, which will reportedly quadruple his current wages.
Kvaratskhelia joined Napoli in the summer of 2022 for just €13m from Dinamo Batumi and quickly made an impact. His contributions helped Napoli secure their first Serie A title in 33 years during the 2022-23 campaign. However, this season, the 23-year-old has struggled to replicate his previous form, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 19 appearances. Despite this, PSG have remained keen on signing him, especially after missing out on the winger last summer.
Why are PSG investing in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia?

PSG view Kvaratskhelia as a player with long-term potential. Reports suggest the Ligue 1 champions value his creativity and ability to unlock defences, despite already having several wingers in their squad. His move could also bring a fresh attacking dynamic to Luis Enrique’s side, especially as they aim to improve their performances in Europe. However, questions remain about whether PSG needed another winger when their primary struggles lie in converting chances.
For Napoli, the transfer fee represents an impressive profit, considering their initial investment in Kvaratskhelia. The funds will allow them to strengthen other areas of their squad, with replacements like Alejandro Garnacho, Federico Chiesa, and Timo Werner being linked. However, losing Kvaratskhelia mid-season could weaken their title defence under Antonio Conte.
While Ligue 1’s lesser competitiveness might allow Kvaratskhelia to flourish, some observers question whether this move is ideal for his career development. PSG’s squad remains a work in progress, and their struggles in Europe could limit his opportunities to make a mark on the biggest stage.
With the transfer window open, PSG are expected to finalise the deal soon, making Kvaratskhelia one of their marquee signings of the January transfer window.
