Hardik Pandya 3 wickets away from surpassing Jasprit Bumrah in elite list for India

New Delhi: Team India all-rounder Hardik Pandya is on the verge of surpassing premier pacer Jasprit Bumrah in the elite list of bowlers with the most wickets for India in T20Is. Hardik, who starred in India’s 7-wicket win against Bangladesh in the 1st T20I on Sunday, needs only three more wickets to overtake Bumrah and become India’s 3rd-highest wicket-taker in the shortest format.

Hardik produced an impressive all-round show as the hosts demolished Bangladesh in their series opener in Gwalior. He returned with economical figures of 1/26 off his 4 overs to help India bundle out Bangladesh for 127 runs in 19.5 overs before playing an unbeaten knock of 39 runs off 16 balls to lead the hosts to a thumping victory with a clinical run-chase.

Hardik looked in good rhythm with the ball in Gwalior and picked up the wicket of Shoriful Islam. The wicket helped the star all-rounder go past fellow pacer Arshdeep Singh to become India’s 4th highest wicket-taker of all time in the shortest format. Hardik now has 87 wickets to his name in 103 matches for India in T20Is at an economy of 8.14, including 3 four-wicket hauls.

Arshdeep has 86 wickets to his name in 55 matches at an economy rate of 8.28, including 2 four-wicket hauls. Hardik needs three wickets in the 2nd T20I against Bangladesh in Delhi to go past Bumrah (89) and become India’s 3rd highest wicket-taker in T20Is. Arshdeep also has a chance to surpass Bumrah by taking 4 wickets in the 2nd T20I in Delhi.

Most wickets for India in T20Is:

Yuzvendra Chahal – 96 wickets

Bhuvneshwar Kumar – 90 wickets

Jasprit Bumrah – 89 wickets

Hardik Pandya – 87 wickets

Arshdeep Singh – 86 wickets

Hardik, Arshdeep have a chance to surpass Bhuvneshwar

Both Hardik and Arshdeep have a great chance of finishing the three-match series against Bangladesh as India’s 3rd highest or the 2nd-highest wicket-taker of all time in T20Is. If Hardik can pick up 4 wickets in the remaining two T20Is, he will go past Bhuvneshwar Kumar to become India’s second-highest wicket-taker in the shortest format.

Arshdeep needs a total of 5 wickets in the remaining two matches to surpass Bhuvneshwar on the elite list. India will lock horns with Bangladesh in the 2nd T20I of the ongoing three-match series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Wednesday, October 09. India will look to continue their winning run in the 2nd game to seal the series 2-0.

Hardik Pandya is three wickets away from surpassing Jasprit Bumrah in an elite list for India in T20Is. Hardik’s all-round show helped India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets in the 1st T20I on Sunday.  Cricket Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
