New Delhi: WWE Smackdown’s newest episode kicked off with Joe and Wade as both walked to the middle of the ring. Wade announced that Tiffany Stratton will be defending her WWE women’s championship against Bayley in the main event of tonight’s Smackdown.
Kevin Owens is all set to fight against Rey Mysterio in the co-main fight of the show. The fight started with Owens kicking Mysterio early on and attempting an arm bar to him. Rey used ropes to escape but Owens hit him with a shoulder block.
Both men exchanged some nasty shots followed by Rey’s twisting hurricanrana. Fans started booing Owens and then Owens hit his forearm to the face of Mysterio and slammed him to the ring.
Owens was dominating the match but suddenly Rey climbed to the top of the rope and landed a seating senton to Owens. Later he attempted his signature move 619 but Owens again used his kicks and escaped from the ropes.
Owens attacked the ribs of Rey and landed a powerbomb on Mysterio and then followed the attack with his signature pop-up powerbomb and pinned Mysterio to ensure his victory over him.
In the main event of the Smackdown episode, Stratton was defending her title for the first time after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract and winning the women’s championship against Nia Jax. Stratton defeated Bayley to successfully defend her title as she dominantly defeated Bayley and retained her title. She also started her celebration when the Smackdown episode went off air.
