New Delhi: Former India batter Virender Sehwag is in the midst of separation from his wife of 20 years Aarti Ahlawat. Specualtion about their relationship status intensified after they unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Sehwag and Aarti have lived separately for several months now, and are likely heading towards a divorce, as per a Hindustan Times report.
They entered into matrimony in 2004, their union giving birth to two sons – Aryavir, born in 2007, and Vedant, born in 2010. But despite their long association, they have grown apart in recent times.
During last year’s Diwali celebrations, it was pointed out by fans that Sehwag shared pictures with sons and his mother on social media. But he didn’t mention or post any photo of or with his wife.
It added to the rumours of separation and recent developments have only added fuel to those talks. The former opener paid a visit to the Vishwa Nagayakshi Temple in Palakkad around two weeks ago and posted photos of his trip on his Instagram handle.
But there too was no mention of his wife, which only heightened speculations. The former right hande batter is yet to comment on the matter but his public distancing with his wife has been a hot topic of discussion on social media.
Who is Aarti Ahlawat?
Hailing from New Delhi, Sehwag’s wife has largely kept a low profile over the years. She was born on December 16, 1980 ans studied at Lady Irwin Secondary School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, after whoch she completed a diploma in Computer Science from Maitreyi College under the aegis of Delhi University.
They reportedly came together in the early 2000s and their union resulted in marriage. The wedding as held at the home of late former finance minister Arun Jaitley in 2004.
WHile Sehwag scaled new heights in his cricketing career, scoring 8586 in 104 Tests at an average of 49.30 including 23 tons and 8273 runs from 251 ODIs at an average of 35 with 15 hundreds in a career soanning from 1999 to 2013, Aarti maintained the balance in their family and conjugal life.
But as per the HT report, their relation hit a rocky patch and though Swhwag had kept his family life guarded, it has come under scrutiny due to murmurs of separation and impending divorce.
Since retiting from international cricket in 2015, Sehwg had donne various hats of a TV pundit, pursued business ventures and even been a member of the anti-doping appeal panel of the National Anti-Doping Agency.
Neither Sehwag nor Aarti has spoken on their relationship status yet.
