New Delhi: Wow! What a season Chris Wood is having as he continues to strike fear in the hearts of opposition defences. A fantastic hat-trick against Brighton and Hove Albion made him the first Nottingham player to score a hat-trick at the City Ground, since Nigel Clough, the legendary forward of Nottingham, who scored his treble of goals against QPR back in 1987. This meant that the New Zealand international has now scored 17 goals in the league, levelling him with Alexander Isak at third for the golden boot this season.
It was simply a men vs boys game where the Seagulls just couldn’t get things right the hosts demolished them in the first half, only to follow it up with further embarassment for the visitors in the second half to maintain third spot in the table.

A hat-trick to remember
Nottingham managed to take a commanding lead in the first half where they simply blew the visitors away with Chris Wood scoring his first goal in the 32nd minute of the game. Elanga hung up a beautiful ball for Wood as he dashed down the box’s right edge. In the bottom-left corner, the striker rose and nodded brilliantly past a stumbling Verbruggen as he scored his 15th goal of the campaign. Brighton were relieved to hear the half time whistle but unfortunately for them, things started to get worse in the second half.
Elanga recorded yet another assist, which was his third of the game, and Wood scored his second. The forward followed the Swede as he drove down the right side of the box, then he received a straightforward pull across to tap in for his 16th goal of the season. Anthony Elanga has now helped Chris Wood eleven times, the most any player has done since the season began. To put the cherry on top, the veteran striker completed his hat-trick after slotting home a penalty which was won by Morgan Gibbs-White. As the game progressed, things kept on getting worse for Fabian Hurzeler’s side, and the game eventually ended 7-0.
Chris Wood’s incredible hat-trick lit up the City Ground as Nottingham Forest absolutely destroyed Brighton and Hove Albion in their Premier League clash. Football Sports News: Latest Cricket News, Cricket Live Score, Sports Breaking News from Sports Today
