New Delhi: Indian shuttler and Olympic bronze medallist Saina Nehwal on Wednesday visited the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj along with her father. Nehwal arrived in the city to take a dip in the sacred waters of the Triveni Sangam during the ongoing religious festival, which has attracted crores of people from all across the country.
Nehwal, who got surrounded by media personals, said that she felt fortunate enough to be part of the such a massive event, which has seen a gathering of not only country people but also few from abroad. The ace badminton player called the Maha Kumbh the world’s largest spiritual gathering. The shuttler further said that she would visit Triveni Sangam with her father in the evening and also expressed her wish to return with her mother in the future.

The badminton player said that being a part of this sacred event is a special experience and she is fortunate to have come here. Lauding the Uttar Pradesh government for the organising such a beautiful festival, the ace shuttler said that she hopes more and more people visit the Maha Kumbh and spread it worldwide.
Nehwal further said that she is glad to see everyone coming together, which showcases the country’s unity and strength. She also said that she takes pride in the fact that the festival is happening in India. Extending her best wishes to the youth of the country, the badminton player emphasised the importance of spiritual events in fostering energy and positivity.
Before shuttler’s visit, Olympian boxer and former Rajya Sabha MP Mary Kom, former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina and ICC chairman Jay Shah among others from the sports fraternity paid a visit to the Maha Kumbh. The massive event, which began on January 13, will continue till February 26.
