New Delhi: The Indian Tigers and Tigress is the biggest talent hunt for football in the country, aimed at finding and nurturing the biggest talents in the sport. Launched in April 2024, the Tigers and Tigress initiative is tasked with finding the best prospects amongst the ages of 12-14 and between the age of 15-17 that could go on to become the next big thing in Indian football. The hunt is aimed at developing India as a world-class footballing nation by involving experts and scouts of the game.

News9 has partnered up with two of the biggest competitions in German football, the Bundesliga and the DFB Pokal. The former is the top tier of football in Germany whereas the Pokal is biggest cup competition in the country and together they will help grow the sport in the country through this hunt. Eight time German champions Borussia Dortmund are also a part of the initiative which helps add prestige to the hunt.

The Indian Tigers and Tigress hunt offers a chance for the budding footballers of today to train and play in Austria. The hunt officially kicks off tomorrow in the national capital, Delhi, where the first round of trials take place over this weekend i.e. February 8th and 9th, 2025. The event was launched early in 2024, at a star-studded ceremony as sports stars and representatives from Bundesliga, German Football Association, BVB Borussia Dortmund and Indian Football Centre in Europe were present at the event.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Barun Das, MD & CEO, TV9 Network, said, “If you are talking of talented footballers, I am sure there are 20 lying somewhere in the country. If we can identify them, may be India would be playing the next World Cup. So, I think we have to go the nook and corners of the country and identify this talent … give them the right infrastructure and training which Indian Football Institute will give … I think if we can give them that exposure, then the great Indian football dream would soon be a reality.”

The first trial takes place at the Orchids International School, Dwarka this weekend. The registrations open at 08:00 hours on Saturday morning with on-spot registrations being accepted as well. The trails will then be held in various parts over the country throughout the month of February. The schedule for the trials can be found listed below.
