New Delhi: Shubman Gill’s maiden hundred in an ICC white-ball event paved the way for India’s six-wicket win over Bangladesh to begin their Champions Trophy campaign on a winning note in Dubai on Thursday.
Gill struck an unbeaten 101 off 129 balls to anchor India’s 229-run chase after Bangladesh were bowled out for 228 runs in 49.4 overs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
The right hander hit nine boundaries and two sixed as he coronated his recent rise to the top of the ODI rankings with his eighth hundred in the 50-over format.
It was his second successive ODI hundred after 112 from 102 balls in the third ODI against England on February 12 that facilitated his rise to the top of the rankings.
