New Delhi: Jos Buttler, on Friday, became the first England batter to score 4000 runs in Indian Premier League (IPL) after achieving the landmark in a clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in Ahmedabad. Apart from this, he also became the third-fastest batter in the world to reach 4000 IPL runs.
He reached the milestone in the 51st match of IPL 2025 between GT and SRH as he added another feather to his cap after crossing 12500 T20 runs earlier in the season. In terms of balls faced, Buttler is only behind two legends of IPL – Chris Gayle and Ab de Villiers. Batting first, the Titans scored a mammoth 224 runs with Buttler scoring a brilliant 64 off 37 balls with 4 sixes and 3 boundaries.
Entering into the match, the English player needed just 12 runs to reach to the feat and he achieved it in his 117th match. Buttler has now accumulated over 4000 runs from 116 innings, with an average above 40 and an impressive strike rate close to 150. In his IPL career, the veteran player has smashed 7 centuries and 23 fifties.

Meanwhile apart from Buttler, skipper Shubman Gill blasted the Hyderabad bowlers with a score of 76 runs in just 38 balls which included 10 fours and 2 sixes. Opener Sai Sudharsan also contributed with 48 runs off just 23 balls to power his side to a massive total. Washington Sundar also scored 21 runs. For the SRH side, Jaydev Unadkat produced a brilliant spell claiming three wickets.
Playing for Gujarat Titans in the ongoing season, Buttler has continued his exceptional form amassing over 418 runs. Buttler has smashed scores of 54, 39, 73*, 0, 36, 16, 97*, 41*, 50, and 64 in today’s match.
