Kanyakumari: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meditate at Rock Memorial, a monument built in tribute to Swami Vivekananda, in Tamil Nadu’s Kanyakumari district following the culmination of the Lok Sabha polls campaign on May 30.

While the 6th phase of polling for the 18th Lok Sabha elections was already over, the 7th and final phase election is going to be held on June 1. Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to undertake a three-day visit to Kanyakumari.

PM Modi will engage in solitary meditation

Accordingly, Prime Minister Modi will arrive in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala from Uttar Pradesh on May 30 at 3.55 pm, and from there he will reach Kanyakumari by helicopter in the evening. From there he will take a private boat to the Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hall located in the sea. After visiting the Swami Vivekananda Memorial Mandapam, he worships with flowers at the place where Bhagwati Amman’s foot is enshrined in the rock in Sripada Mandapam.

After that, he will engage in solitary meditation in the Dhyana Mandapam at the Vivekananda Memorial Hall on May 31. The PM will be staying at the Swami Vivekananda Memorial Hall located in the sea till the afternoon on June 1. He will come out of the Vivekananda memorial rock after meditation and return to the shore by boat on the same day.

Kanyakumari brought under security cover

In view of the Prime Minister’s visit, the whole of Kanyakumari district in Tamil Nadu has been brought under police net with 5 layers of security, around 3,000 policemen will be deployed on security duty from this evening.

Meanwhile, the Phoompukar Shipping Corporation has announced that the operation of tourist boats in Kanyakumari will be canceled for three days from May 30 to June 1.

About Vivekananda Rock Memorial

The Vivekananda Rock Memorial, a key tourist spot in Kanyakumari, honors Swami Vivekananda, a revered 19th-century philosopher who meditated on this very rock. Located near the iconic statue of Tamil saint Tiruvalluvar, the memorial sits about 500 meters off the mainland. This location is unique as it lies at the confluence of the Laccadive Sea, the Bay of Bengal, the Indian Ocean, and the Arabian Sea.
