India-Pakistan conflict: Is there any shortage of food products? What Govt said

New Delhi: As tensions soar between India and Pakistan fuelling fears of a wider military conflict, several rumors are doing the rounds about the need to hoard essential items as there could be a shortage and price of the products. Laying rest to all the rumors, the government has assured the nation that there is no shortage of food products and daily necessities as the government has enough stock across the country to ensure smooth supply.

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, allayed the fears of people and urged them to not fall for the rumors and avoid rushing to the markets to hoard food items.

“In certain parts of the country, rumors are spreading, causing people to rush to collect essential food items and other daily necessities.

I would like to categorically state that we have more than enough stock of everything required across the country. Our stock is many times larger than what is needed and there is absolutely no reason for anyone to rush to the markets in any part of the country. There is no shortage whatsoever and no one should give any value to such rumors,” Joshi posted on X.

The tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated after Indian armed forced foiled Islamabad’s fresh attempts to strike military sites with drones and missiles including in Jammu and Pathankot. Earlier, the military thwarted similar bids at 15 places in northern and western regions.

The Pakistan military tried to attack the areas after Indian armed forces successfully carried out precise missile strikes on nine terror targets in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and Pakistan under ‘Operation Sindoor’ to avenge Pahalgam terror attack which left 26 people dead.

Amidst escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, rumors of impending food shortages have spread. The Indian government has categorically denied these claims, asserting ample stockpiles of essential goods exist nationwide.  Biz News Business News – Personal Finance News, Share Market News, BSE/NSE News, Stock Exchange News Today
