New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s crowning moment finally came after 18 years of dismay and heartbreak as Rajat Patidar-led side conquered Punjab Kings to lift their maiden Indian Premier League title. In an epic battle of nerves in the final, the Challengers channelled their years of disappointment and pain to cross the final hurdle on their fourth attempt.

After several heartbreaks, Kohli and RCB finally experienced jubilation on a dream night, and it was a man from Madhya Pradesh who finally made it possible.

MP skipper Patidar led from the front and delivered the title to end RCB’s IPL curse. King Kohli heaped praise on Patidar, hailing his captaincy in a post-match interaction.

“Rajat led from the front, led with composure, his bowling changes, his calmness was absolutely phenomenal through the tournament,” Kohli said.

“Heartbreak corner… no more. “What a turnaround. From injury replacement to IPL-winning captain. Bloody hell…,” Kohli said while entering the dressing room for celebrations.

It has been a remarkable journey for Patidar, who went unsold at the 2022 auction. An injury to Luvnith Sisodia opened the doors of opportunity for the Madhya Pradesh cricketer, and he has never looked back since.

Mahanaryaman Scindia, Vice President of the Gwalior Division Cricket Board and Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket League (MPL) hailed Patidar on his social media handles.

RCB posted a competitive total of 190 for 9 in 20 overs despite a weak finish. But Patidar felt that 190 was a par score on a wicket that was on the slower side.

“After the Qualifier, we thought that we can go through. I think 190 was a good score on this track as it was a bit slow. Bowlers executing their plans was tremendous to watch.”

Patidar was all praise for Kohli and Player of the Match Krunal Pandya for bowling heroics.

RCB’s long-awaited win and King Kohli’s IPL crowning were long due, and now the Bengaluru fans can finally say: “Ee saala cup namdu”.
