Coimbatore: In yet another heartwarming incident, a sick mother elephant was released into the forest after four days of treatment. Four days ago, the elephant was found lying sick with its calf near Marudhamalai. The forest officials took care of the elephant and treated it for dehydration and fever. The elephant made to stand with sling support was released today after recovery. Sharing the videos on X page, Supriya Sahu, Addl Chief Secretary Environment Climate Change & Forests, Govt of Tamil Nadu said “From despair to hope and from struggle to triumph, this is the incredible story of a wild elephant mother’s fight for survival backed by a dedicated and professional team of foresters and vets from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu Forest Department.”

Supriya Sahu informed that the baby elephant joined the herd and other siblings roaming in the nearby forests visiting the mother in the night. Thanks to the treatment,she gained enough strength and was released to freedom in the wild today. We are monitoring her to keep an eye on her well being.
