Hyderabad: A local court in the city has sent YouTuber Praneeth Hanumanthu to 14-day judicial remand after he was arrested on Wednesday, tv9 telugu reported.
He was arrested for making obscene comments about a father-Daughter relationship and making inappropriate comments against a child.
Telangana Cyber Security Wing arrested him in Bangalore after registering cases under Sections 67B IT Act, POCSO Act, 79, 294 BNS. He was brought to Hyderabad to be produced before Nampally court.
His friends Dallas Nageswara Rao, Yuvraj Burra, Sai Adinarayana have been included as co-accused.
Hanumanthu and his friends went live on YouTube and made offensive, inappropriate comments on a father-daughter video in the name of humour.
After the video went viral and his comments were subjected to scrutiny, he issued an apology on his X account and edited the offensive portions of the video. “Unconditionally and unambiguously apologetic about the lapse in judgment. This time, unfortunately, I have crossed a line between dark and distasteful.”
