New Delhi: After stepping down as New Zealand white-ball skipper and refusing the cricket board’s central contract earlier in the week, Kane Williamson turned emotional on Friday and expressed his emotions on social media.
The Black Caps didn’t have the best of the campaigns at the T20 World Cup 2024 as they exited the tournament in the group stage only and after the teams shock exit from the showpiece event, Williamson quit as the captain of the side.
Time to hand it over, says Kane
Williamson took to his social media account Instagram to express himself after taking this massive step in Wednesday. He said that it was an honour and privilege to captain the New Zealand national side and after eight long years, it was time to hand it over. He also acknowledged his teammates saying that the wonderful journey was filled with lot of ups and downs.

The former white-ball skipper earlier on Friday also said that he wishes to play for the nation as long as he can. There are a number of great competitions during that time, but SA20 looks really exciting and Unfortunately, it meant turning down a central contract.
