Andhra man gets married for a third time with consent of two wives

Vizag: A man from Andhra Pradesh identified as Sageni Pandana, attracted attention after he got married for a third time with the blessings of his two wives.

The wedding took place on June 25 in Kinchuru village, Pedabayalu mandal, Alluri Seetharamaraju district.

Pandana’s two wives, Sageni Appalamma, Sageni Parvathamma, gave their consent for him to marry Lakshmi, and co-hosted the wedding.

His marriage to first wife Paravthamma was reportedly childless and he married Appalamma in a second marriage in 2002. Though they had a son in 2007, Pandana reportedly fell in love with another woman and expressed a desire for a larger family. They encouraged him to get married for a third time and gave him their consent.

The two wives even participated actively in arranging the wedding and distributed personalised wedding cards under their names, indicating that they welcome her into the family.

The wedding held at 10 am on June 25, was attended by relatives of Lakshmi and Pandana, including his two wives and son.

There was a mix of amusement and surprise as the news of the wedding spread online. Some netizens even termed him a ‘lucky fellow’.

It has to be noted that polygamy is illegal under Hindu Marriage Act, passed as law in 1956. It may be permissible if the existing spouses do not have an objection.
