Interpol issues Blue Corner notice against Madhu Jayakumar, key agent in Iran-based organ trade

Kochi: The investigation into the international organ trafficking with Iranian links is into its crucial stages with the Kerala police approaching the CBI who has taken up the matter with the Interpol. As per the latest development, the Interpol has issued a Blue Corner notice to Madhu Jayakumar is the main link in the sensational case.

It is Madhu who as per the investigation team facilitated the travel of the organ donors from Kerala to various hospitals in Iran. If arrested soon, details of the main sharks in the sensational case will be revealed. According to the police, Madhu’s arrest could reveal information about the activities of the organ racket in Iran and those helping them abroad.

The police have also initiated proceedings to cancel his passport. If the accused is brought home, the police will file a charge sheet against Madhu and will seek his custody.

“We have moved as per the proceedings in the case. We have identified Madhu as the main link who has facilitated the travel of the donors from Kerala.  Once, he is bought back, we will seek his custody”, said Vaibhav Saxena, Aluva Rural SP to TV9.

The investigation into the links of Sabith Nasar hailing from Valappad in Thrissur in connection with the organ harvesting case led to Ramaprasad, one of the key agents in the case. He was apprehended while planning to leave the country.

Besides Sabith and Ramaprasad, a resident of Edathala in Aluva, has also been arrested in the case. The accused are suspected of involvement in large-scale kidney trade.

Police had in the month of May exposed an international organ trafficking racket with Kerala links, with the probe finding that several youths from Hyderabad and Bengaluru were trafficked to Iran for kidney transplantation. The shocking revelations followed the arrest of a Thrissur native and the detention of another in Kochi.

The racket is believed to have lured a number of people from economically weak sections to donate organs abroad. As per the statements of the arrested person, a few people who were taken to Iran for organ donation died there.

As per the remand report, Sabith told the police that he was part of a racket recruiting people from India for kidney transplantation illegally. “Youths from Hyderabad and Bengaluru were recruited to Iran as kidney donors,” said the report produced before the Angamali judicial first-class magistrate court on May 20.
