Hyderabad: Senior IPS officer, Jitender, Principal Secretary to the Government, Home Department was transferred and posted as Director General of Police of Telangana, Hyderabad on Wednesday.
The state government also gave him full additional charge of the post of the DGP (HoPF), an order issued by Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari said.
The current DGP, Ravi Gupta, is posted as Special Chief Secretary to the government, Home Department in his present pay scale, the order read.
The newly appointed DGP met CM Revanth Reddy at the Secretariat and took charge at 5 pm.
Born in a farmer family in Jalandhar, Punjab, Jitender is a 1992 batch IPS officer and served in Andhra Pradesh cadre. After serving in Nirmal as SP, he was posted as ASP in Bellampally. Later, he served as the SP of Mahabubnagar and Guntur districts in undivided AP. He was promoted as DIG and held the responsibilities in Visakhapatnam range and he continued as DIG of Warangal range during the Telangana movement.
After serving in Andhra Pradesh CID, Inquiry Commission, Vigilance and Enforcement, he was posted as Additional Commissioner of Traffic in Hyderabad Commissionerate. Later, he served as Additional DGP of Telangana Law and Order Department and DG of Prisons Department. He is currently the Principal Secretary of the Home Department and will retire in September 2025.
