Hyderabad: A father sold his 18-day-old daughter for Rs 1 lakh in Bandlaguda area of the city, reports said.
Four days later, the baby girl’s mother lodged a complaint at Bandlaguda police station, after which the police quickly jumped into action, rescued the baby in 24 hours and returned the infant to her mother.
The father, Asif, mediator Chand Sultana and Minal Saad from Karnataka, who bought the girl, have been arrested and interrogated, the police said.
Speaking to the media, Bandlaguda police said, “We received the complaint on June 11 from a woman named Asma Begum. In her complaint, Begum said that her husband sold her baby by threatening her. We got into action and rescued the baby in 24 hours. An investigation is on.”
16 people injured after shock in pool:
In a separate incident, sixteen people were injured after an electric shock in a swimming pool at a function hall on Thursday. The incident occurred in Pahadishareef.
Out of those injured, two are reportedly in a critical condition and are undergoing treatment. The residents of Agapura went to the pool to enjoy a day of recreation but experienced shocks immediately after entering the pool. The police arrived at the spot and began an investigation.
