James David Bowman or JD Vance, Donald Trump’s running mate in the upcoming US presidential election, is married to Usha Chilukuri Vance, Indian American of Telugu origin from Krishna district, Andhra Pradesh.
Usha Chilukuri, a lawyer, is the daughter of Indian immigrants and holds a Bachelors Degree from Yale University and a Masters Degree from University of Cambridge.
She carved out a distinctive legal career, having clerked for conservative Supreme Court Justices John Roberts and Brett Cavanaugh.
Chilukuri was born and raised in San Diego, California and her academic achievements include being Managing Editor of Yale Journal of Law & Technology, Executive Development Editor of Yale Law Journal. Interestingly, she was a registered Democrat in 2014 and while pursuing her Masters Degree at Cambridge in the UK, she reportedly engaged with left wing, liberal groups.
Since 2015, she has been working as a corporate litigator at law firm Munger, Tolles and Olson. Vance and Usha met at Yale Law school and got married in Kentucky in 2014, with a Hindu priest presiding over a separate traditional Hindu ceremony. They have three children.
Born in Middeltown, Ohio, his mother struggled with drug addiction while his father left the family while he was still a toddler. He was raised by his grandparents. JD Vance is a Republican Senator from Ohio and the author of best-selling novel Hillbilly Elegy and served in the US Marine Corps.
