New Delhi: The Real Madrid Foundation is set to make a substantial impact on football in India with the launch of its new programme in August 2024. In collaboration with Conscient Sports, the Foundation aims to transform football development across the country.
The programme will initially commence in key cities such as Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Pune, where 30 state-of-the-art football centres will be established. These centres are designed to be premier facilities for young players, providing them with the resources needed to enhance their skills. The initiative is not only focused on technical development but also on cultivating a deep-seated passion for football among India’s youth.
Emilio Butragueno, Real Madrid’s Director of Institutional Relations, expressed his excitement about the project. He highlighted that introducing Real Madrid’s esteemed football legacy to India will significantly benefit local football. By sharing their world-class training techniques and rich football heritage, Real Madrid aims to inspire and develop young players, thereby contributing to the growth of the sport in the country.

From August onwards, around 4,500 young players will begin training at these centres. The coaching staff will comprise experienced professionals, many of whom hold licences from the Asian Football Confederation and the All India Football Federation. Each coach will be trained in Real Madrid’s methodologies, ensuring that the training provided is of the highest standard.
To ensure the quality of training, technical directors from Real Madrid, holding UEFA Pro licences, will be stationed in India. They will supervise the programmes to maintain international standards. Additionally, Real Madrid will regularly send visiting Technical Heads to further refine and enhance the training methods.
Through this initiative, Real Madrid aims to make a significant contribution to Indian football. By leveraging their rich heritage and expertise, they hope to nurture young talent and build a stronger football culture in India. This project represents a major advancement in creating opportunities for young Indian players to excel and potentially make a mark on the global stage.
