Will Tony Ferguson retire after UFC Abu Dhabi 2024?

New Delhi: UFC Veteran Tony ‘El Cucuy’ Ferguson will take on Michael Chiesa in UFC Fight Night on August 4 in Abu Dhabi. The fight will be in the welterweight division and Tony never fight in the welterweight division and it will be his debut fight in this division. El Cucuy is now on a seven-fight losing streak and reports are claiming that it will be his last fight in his UFC career whether he wins the fight or not. Tony has been always a violent fighter and called a ‘Boogeyman’ by the fans but now his prime is gone and he is the only active fighter who is on a seven-fight losing streak.

The 40-year-old fighter had a 15-1 record between 2011 to 2019 but when Tony fought with Charles Oliviera in 2019 he was punished by Oliviera and didn’t find his form after that fight and from there onwards he went on a seven-fight losing streak. UFC President Dana White provided favorable matchups for El Cucuy but that didn’t work from him. Tony has always been a fan-favorite fighter That’s why he is getting a UFC fight after being hammered in every fight.

Tony is also aging and Dana also said in the press conference that instead of the result of his fight at Abu Dhabi he has to retire from UFC. El Cucuy has always been a warrior and accepted every challenge that was placed in front of him and now fighting Chiesa in his division. Chiesa will be a huge favourite in this fight as his grappling power is high class and Tony is fighting in the higher weight class which will give Chiesa an advantage in the fight.

The 40-year-old Tony is practicing hard before his fight against Chiesa. Fans are calling this his retirement fight and by looking at the training footage El Cucuy is giving all to his so-called last fight. Tony is fighting in the welterweight division and he is someone who is known to practice all alone before his every fight but now he is training with different coaches. Fans will be eager to watch Tony as fans might see him last time in the cage.
